George Lakoff makes the point that our administration seems to be planning nuclear war against Iran, but nobody is using the words
nuclear war.
To put it mildly, this continues to baffle me. How the hypocrisy of *using nuclear weapons* in order to prevent another country from *obtaining nuclear weapons* because they’re so crazy, they might want to *use nuclear weapons* goes unnoticed troubles me to no end (yeah…great sentence construction there, eh?).
So I mentioned this casually to a couple of students during a lab, and one responded with, “Well, these types of nukes don’t really spread much radiation.”
We are a soulless nation.
