I was blown away by this. I also cringed at his self-regard, patronizing tone, and descriptions of his subjects: “fat and ugly”, “uneducated”, etc. If any of these folks have internet access, that could undo a lot of goodwill.
I didn’t come away with quite the same impression you did, but I can see what you’re talking about. I guess it didn’t quite strike me the same way.
