Yeah, KDE has always been more like Mac/Windows than any other. That’s probably one of the main reasons I hate it so much. :)
Chalk me up as another person who was pleasantly surprised by KDE after many years of Gnome use. I really like the way the applications play (relatively) nicely with each other, especially if you stick with the default “K” apps where possible. I’d always heard that KDE was slower/more bloated/too Windows-like compared to Gnome, but that hasn’t isn’t the impression I’ve gotten from it at all. I’ve been using a KDE-focused distro for many months now and while it isn’t the Desktop Above All Desktops, I’ve been pleased with it.
Ironically after a week I got tired of it and went back to GNOME. It just felt better.
