After the great outdoor fight saga, it’s time for a return to familiar themes. I looked at the first word balloon of the first frame of this one —

And I was like, “No good can come of this.” I was right. Welcome back, ordinary Achewood.
I don’t remember if I blogged about this before, but a couple months ago it came out on all the usual suspect link-aggregators that somebody had “stabilized” the famous Patterson bigfoot video, taking all the jitter out of it and splaying the panning out from left to right. It is a really cool technique, but what it reveals here is sadly disappointing — the fact that there is no waythat is anything but a dude in a monkey suit. It moves exactly like a human in a suit, swinging his arms a bit to be apelike.

ABC News: Model Naomi Campbell Charged With Assault
NEW YORK Mar 31, 2006 (AP)— Supermodel Naomi Campbell was charged with assault for throwing her cell phone at a housekeeper after accusing her of stealing clothes when she couldn’t find a pair of jeans she wanted to wear on “Oprah,” prosecutors said.
This, my friends, this is America.
The fact that it was about jeans to wear on Oprah…Â I mean, OK, what has the world come to when you can’t gently admonish your housekeeper via a nokia to the cranium, sure, but when it’s revealed that it’s all about an Oprah appearance…Â That is America.
Campbell, wearing a white fur poncho, was arraigned on a charge of second-degree assault before Judge Richard Weinberg, who allowed Breitbart to enter a plea of not guilty on her behalf.
I don’t know about you, but for me, it wouldn’t really be journalism without knowing what she was wearing to the arraignment. White fur poncho — of course — what else do you wear to an arraignment? That’s the Naomi we know!
“She is sadly mistaken if she thinks she can extract money from me by concocting lies by recycling old stories,” the supermodel said. “I have asked my lawyer to look into filing both theft and extortion charges against her.”
The housekeeper was treated at a hospital for a cut that required four staples, said Assistant District Attorney Elina Kreditor, who asked the judge to set bail at $3,500 and to order Campbell, who is British, to surrender her passport….
This was not the first time the volatile Campbell, 35, was accused of reaching out and touching someone with a phone. In 2003, the supermodel was sued by a former administrative assistant who said Campbell had thrown a phone at her during a tantrum two years earlier.
In August 2004, in the same apartment, Campbell and her maid battled it out, with the worker claiming the supermodel slapped her across the face. Campbell accused maid Millicent Burton of instigating the fight….
The mercurial Campbell has a reputation for angry outbursts and abusive behavior. She pleaded guilty in Toronto to an assault charge for beating another assistant while making a film in Canada in 1998.
I don’t know about you, but I weep for our nation when a zillionaire supermodel can’t find any domestic help who won’t provoke her to injure them.
And the liberal media want to blame the supermodel.
By the way, I think some people got killed in Iraq or something, you know, and there’s something about spying on Americans, I dunno. I’m too busy worrying what’s going to happen to poor Naomi.

Apparently this dude Howard Kaloogian is running for office in San Diego. He’s a Republican, and part of his deal is “Iraq is really quite calm and fine, but the Evil Liberal Media try to make it look bad!” He apparently recently traveled to Baghdad, and he put on his website what he claimed was a picture of downtown Baghdad looking peaceful and calm. “We took this photo of dowtown Baghdad while we were in Iraq. Iraq (including Baghdad) is much more calm and stable than what many people believe it to be. But, each day the news media finds any violence occurring in the country and screams and shouts about it – in part because many journalists are opposed to the U.S. effort to fight terrorism.”
Except there was no arabic script anywhere in the picture. There were signs in Turkish, in Roman characters. And there was at least one woman dressed in a way which would be unremarkable in many countries (a pink tank top) but which would get you arrested for indecency in Baghdad.
Pretty soon the liberal quadrant of the blogodrome had consulted with friends in Baghdad, who had laughed at the idea that any part of Baghdad could look that pleasant and calm — and they even tracked down a photograph by a Turkish photographer which depicted that exact corner — of Istanbul.
Lies and the lying liars…Â or maybe this is just “truthiness.”

I wonder if this guy had much of a chance to begin with, or is just some random yahoo whose only claim to fame is a transparent lie? It’s fun to point and laugh and appreciate the blogodrome’s exposure of the lie, but the guy’s just a candidate. It’s not like there’s a shortage of falsehoods from members of the actual administration to deal with.
